Supplement Allergy Label Check: What to Read and What Is Missing
A supplement allergy label check means reading every name, then the Other ingredients line, then asking about what is not printed. Reviralis lists cellulose capsule, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate and silicon dioxide as other ingredients, and prints no allergen statement. So the label cannot tell you the product is free of any allergen.

Two lists01
Where do allergens hide on a supplement label?
In two places: the Supplement Facts list of named ingredients, and the Other ingredients line below it. Read both, every time.
Say you react to shellfish. The first list may name a source such as fish oil; the second may name a capsule shell or a coating. Plant extracts can bring pollen cross-reactions too, and a label rarely warns about that.
The flat Reviralis label has 40 named lines and four other ingredients. It does not print an allergen statement, and a missing statement is not the same as a negative one.
What is printed02
What does the Reviralis label print under Other ingredients?
Four things: cellulose (the vegetable capsule), microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate and silicon dioxide.
| Printed name | What it usually is | What the label does not say |
|---|---|---|
| Cellulose | The vegetable capsule shell | The plant source |
| Microcrystalline cellulose | A filler or binder | The plant source |
| Magnesium stearate | A flow agent | Whether its source is plant or animal |
| Silicon dioxide | An anti-caking agent | Nothing further |
| Allergen statement | Not printed | Any "contains" or "free of" line |
The "usually" column is a general description of those terms, not a statement from the label. Ask the seller if the source matters to you. The blend names matter too: grapefruit seed extract, for example, has limited human evidence and some products have contained added preservatives (Avula 2007, Synthetic Disinfectants in Grapefruit Seed Extract (Pharmazie)).
Sales-page words03
Does a sales page claim count as an allergen statement?
No. A line like "Non-GMO, stimulant-free, and 100% natural" on a sales page is not an allergen statement, and it is not on the label.
The sales page makes that claim in its own words. The printed label does not repeat it, and nothing on the label says "allergen-free", "vegan" or "gluten-free". We do not say it either. FDA says makers are responsible for truthful labels (FDA, Dietary supplements), so a statement you rely on should be on the bottle.
When a claim is only on a web page, ask for it in writing from the order desk, and keep the reply with your order records.

What should an allergy patient ask before starting a supplement?
Ask the seller and your allergist the same short list, and write the answers down.
"This is the full label, including Other ingredients. Which name or filler could be a problem for my allergy? Should I try a first dose under supervision?"
- Email [email protected] and ask for the source of magnesium stearate and the plant sources of the cellulose.
- Ask whether the plant extracts are processed with other products.
- Keep taking prescribed medicine, including any antiviral, as directed.
- Stop and call a clinician at the first rash, hives or itching mouth.
More in the rash or hives post, the ingredients page and the side effects page.
Emergency05
What are the signs of a serious allergic reaction?
Call 911 for trouble breathing, swelling of the face, lips or throat, a tight chest or fainting after a capsule.
Do not wait to see whether it passes. Tell the responders the product name and bring the bottle. No source tests Reviralis itself for allergy.
FAQ06
Questions about supplement allergies
Is Reviralis allergen-free?
The label does not say so. It prints no allergen statement, only four other ingredients: cellulose, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate and silicon dioxide. If you have an allergy, ask a pharmacist and the seller before taking it.
Is the capsule vegetarian?
The label calls it a vegetable capsule made of cellulose. It does not say vegan, and the source of magnesium stearate is not printed. Ask the seller in writing if it matters to you.
What does 'Other ingredients' mean on a label?
It lists everything in the product that is not a named active, such as the capsule shell, fillers and flow agents. Allergy patients should read it as carefully as the main Supplement Facts list.
Can plant extracts trigger pollen allergies?
Sometimes. Some people with pollen allergies react to related plant products. The label does not warn about this, so mention any pollen or plant allergy to your allergist before starting a botanical product.
